The City of Rancho Santa Margarita is located along
the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains.
The first homes in this master planned community were sold in 1986.
Since then, the town has grown to a population of more than 47,000.
The community's four major shopping centers are complete, and the
lastretail spaces and the final housing tract will be complete
within two years.
In November, area voters opted to incorporate the planned community
and neighboring Robinson Ranch, Dove Canyon, Rancho Cielo, Trabuco
Highlands and Walden.
The city incorporated on January 1, 2000, becoming the 33rd city in
the County of Orange.
Rancho Santa Margarita has grown into a mature community with a
balanced mix of homes, shops, entertainment and recreational
opportunities.
Aliso Viejo
It encompasses only 10 square miles, but Aliso Viejo is a vibrant
center of residential and commercial life. The community’s master
plan, approved by Orange County in 1979, was designed to meet the
needs of a broad range of new-home buyers.
The first residential units were offered for sale in March 1982. The
first residents moved in that November, and Aliso Viejo’s
population has been skyrocketing ever since. Estimated build-out of
the community is 2005, by which time it will include about 48,000
residents occupying 20,000 homes.
Aliso Viejo is more than homes. The master plan also called
for a delicate balance of retail andspace, resulting in a
community where you really can live, work and play in the same
place.
It seems there’s a park around every corner, where families can
picnic, run and toss a ball around. Some provide access to south
Orange County’s extensive trail system. And while sports fields
exist, still more are planned to try to meet the community’s growing
needs.
Shopping opportunities abound in the Town Center, located at the
heart of the community. In 2001, Orange County’s newest four-year
liberal arts college, Soka University of America, willits
doors to its first 100 freshmen. The Aliso Viejo Golf Club gives
locals 27 holes of a Jack Nicklaus-designed challenge.
Aliso Viejo is also making a name for itself in industry.
Many large and midsize corporations have chosen to relocate their
headquarters here.
