Fountain Valley Real Estate
Fountain Valley at one time was mostly a big swamp. The abundance of
wild game, which roamed the entire area due to the lush growth and
plentiful water, made the area a sportsman's paradise.
Today, Fountain Valley is a quiet bedroom community
located just a few miles from the beach in the heart of Orange
County. With excellent schools, a variety of housing types and
prices, easy access to freeways and plenty of shopping, Fountain
Valley is considered one of the best cities in Orange County to
raise a family. The city has excellent recreational facilities with
numerous parks and bike trails leading to the beach. One of the
city’s landmarks is Mile Square Park that features two 18-hole golf
courses, lakes, tennis, soccer, running and par courses. Almost any
time of the day you can see locals enjoying a picnic, a jog in the
park or a round of golf. The park is also host to the Chamber of
Commerce's Fourth of July celebration, the Fountain Valley Fiesta.
Home prices range from the mid-$150,000 for townhouses or
condominiums to $500,000 and more for newer model single-family
homes.
Fountain Valley attracts families to its 10 square miles of quiet,
manicured bedroom community with a promise – “A nice place to live.”
But visitors also may find this town of 55,000 residents a fine
place to play, shop and eat.
This historic strawberry and lima bean farming community has evolved
into a haven for technology such as Fry’s Electronics store and
computer equipment manufacturer Kingston Technology Corp.
This city doesn’t look like the cutting edge, but Fountain Valley
has recorded dozens of national, state and county firsts in its
40-year history – such as the nation’s first Japanese-American
mayor. Before “A nice place to live” made its debut in 1996, the
city’s motto was: “A city where progress shows.”
In the heart of the city, Mile Square Park boasts the county’s
second-highest regional park attendance – 700,000 annual visitors –
behind Irvine Regional Park. The park provides popular facilities
for walking, affordable golfing, picnicking or just catching a
snooze in the shade. In the 1960s real estate agents and developers
came into the area and purchased the valuable land from the farmers.
By the 1970s, the city's population had grown from 10,000 to 40,000.
Fountain Valley was a planned community and became a model for other
cities.
