Placer County Real Estate
Placer County was home to the peaceful Nisenan
Native Americans for hundreds of years before the discovery of gold in
1848 brought hordes of miners from around the world. As we look back at
our colorful history we discover the similarities between the 49ers and
the families of today who are moving here because it's a wonderful place
to live. Just as in 1849, Placer County is the fastest growing county in
California. The county reaches from the borders of Sacramento to North
Lake Tahoe. The current population is 260,000. Click here to read

Residents of Auburn and Lake of the Pines enjoy a
quiet residential atmosphere in one of the most breathtaking natural
settings in the country. Established in 1848, Auburn is located just 30
miles northeast of Sacramento on Interstate 80 in the foothills of the
Sierra Nevada Mountains. The former mining town is now the Placer County
seat and is home to approximately 12,500 residents. Lake of the Pines is
located along Highway 49, just across the Placer County line in Nevada
County. Both areas have the advantage of being above the valley fog and
below the Sierra snow line, but are just a short drive from recreation
areas. The Lake Tahoe area and all of its recreational opportunities are
just 85 miles from Auburn. Other ski areas and hiking trails are nearby
as are Lake Clementine and Folsom Lake for boating and fishing. A
variety of festive annual events provide fun and entertainment for the
whole family, such as Auburn’s Wild West Stampede Week and Rodeo, the
Mountain Mandarin Festival and the community festival. The real estate
offerings of Auburn and Lake of the Pines are varied, with a wide
selection of single-family homes as well as condominiums and townhouses
available. Many homes are located on treed acreage, and some horse
properties can be found as well.
Granite Bay- Granite Bay’s roots date back to the
early 1550s when gold miners first settled the banks of the American
River. This area was initially known as “Granite Bar,” a small mining
camp just below another mining area. Granite Bar was changed to Granite
Bay for the granite rock quarried from the banks that were used for the
Folsom Dam. In 1987, the Placer County Board of Supervisors
passed a resolution naming Granite Bay an officially designated
unincorporated community.
Granite Bay is an upscale community of over
20,000 residents. Granite Bay has outstanding schools, affordable
homes for sale and an excellent quality of life. This bedroom community
is located in Placer County, about 20 miles northwest of Sacramento.
Real estate in Granite Bay is limited, with more buyers than
sellers. The medium proce home in Granite Bay is $700,000.
Auburn- The real estate markets
of Auburn and Lake of the Pines are varied and consist
primarily of single family detached homes. Home prices in Auburn
range from the high $200,000s for smaller single-family homes to $1
million and more for hilltop estate properties with spectacular views of
the area. Many horse properties are available. Condominiums and
townhouses can be found in the low $100,000s and run up to the
mid-$300,000s. Lake of the Pines offers newer homes and modern
amenities along with gated security and privacy. Prices for
single-family homes range from the mid-$300,000s to $800,000 and more.
